Physical Hazard

Aug 07, 2019

To the Editor:

Several properties on the west ends of West 10th and West 11th streets in Ship Bottom have tree vegetation growing several feet over the curb into the streets. This forces cars to park a distance into the street, effectively constricting the width of the streets. The narrowed street creates a visualization and physical hazard that could threaten the safety of pedestrians, bicycles and vehicles.

It would be most terrible if a child were hurt or killed on these streets as the result of an easily preventable hazard. Although there does not seem to be an ordinance addressing this responsibility of the homeowner, common sense encourages town officials to address this.
