Paintings and Poetry on Display at Barnegat Library

By Eric Englund | Jul 02, 2019

Barnegat — The Barnegat branch of the Ocean County Library will host “Husband and Wife – Their Painted Words” throughout the month of July. The display is an exhibit of poetry and paintings by Lou Baptiste and Mary Walker-Baptiste. There will be a reception with the artists at the branch on Tuesday, July 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mary’s paintings are inspired by photographs, and Lou simply states, “I write.”

Walker-Baptiste has shown paintings at many of the local venues and has acquired a following for her miniature oils. In 2008 she accepted the position of director of the children’s art classes at Pine Shores Art Association in Manahawkin, where she has used her skills from over 30 years of teaching to inspire young artists of Ocean County.
