Comcast’s new Xfinity store in the western retail area of Stafford Township will be ready by fall, and in the meantime, the current service center on Route 9 north has been expanded.

“We look forward to serving customers at our new, interactive Xfinity store in September,” said Comcast Vice President of Communications Jennifer Bilotta. “Meanwhile, we’ve expanded our customer service center in Manahawkin to be ready to serve customers returning to the shore this summer.”

The new, 4,500-square-foot center “will provide customers an immersive destination to discover and interact directly with the latest Xfinity products and services,” Bilotta said.

If you’ve gotten a glimpse of the modern Xfinity stores on television ads, you can anticipate what’s coming to 451 Martin Truex Jr Blvd., on property between several busy plazas and last occupied by the Sonic food drive-in.

Inside will be a landscape of flat screen TVs, interactive iPads and a dedicated seating area for demonstrations of Xfinity products and apps. The company describes that trained and knowledgable sales consultants will be ready to help.

“The opening of the new Xfinity store is part of Comcast’s multi-year strategy to transform the customer experience;” according to the company. “The stores provide new and existing customers a place to learn how to optimize their Xfinity services and to address any service needs.”

And, yes, you can pay your bill there.

The building that will house Xfiinity will also hold two or three other businesses, according to the property owner, Scarborough Associates. There is no announcement yet of what they will be because commitments are still pending.

“We have had a lot of interest,” said company representative Todd Scarborough, “but no contracts have yet been signed.”

The Old Is Newer

On Route 9

This spring, customers have already noticed a difference in the existing service center at 505 North Main St. (Route 9). The office has been expanded from three work stations to eight, and more staff have been hired and trained. The parking lot is two to three times bigger.

Starting April 15, hours at the Route 9 office are expanded to 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Over Memorial Day weekend, hours will be extended further as follows: Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday, May 26, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Monday, May 27, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Amid the retail updates, many people still prefer to do much of their business online, Bilotta noted. “Customers who prefer going online and using mobile apps can take advantage of self-serve account management features through the Xfinity My Account App or Xfinity.com.”

Eye-Openers

In Technology

The company detailed a few key products and areas that will be on display in the new store.

• “Xfinity Mobile is a key part of Xfinity stores – customers can purchase new mobile phones, or bring their own Apple devices and choose a flexible data plan based on their needs –  pay by the gig or choose unlimited.

• “xFi is a personalized home WiFi experience – customers can learn how to view and control network devices through the app, site or voice remote in the Xfinity Internet zone.

• “The X1 video platform is featured in a living room environment, so customers can try the voice remote and see how X1 works firsthand.

• “The Connected Home Zone showcases how Xfinity Home combines the best of home security and automation into one simple experience – customers can learn how they can control an increasing number of IoT (Internet of Things) devices from their phone, tablet or Xfinity Home touchscreen.”

In addition to the latest mobile devices and top-of-the-line mobile accessories, retail offerings at the store will include Xfinity Home accessories and other merchandise that complement the services.

“Time-saving features like self-serve bill pay and a queuing system allow customers to explore the store instead of waiting in line for service,” the company added.
