New Jersey Decoy Collectors Show and Sale Will Be at Seaview This Year

File Photo Carver and collector Mark Ford displays decoys at the decoy collectors’ event once held in Parkertown. Travel to Galloway for this year’s show.

The 27th Annual NJ Decoy Collectors Association’s Decoy, Art and Hunting Collectibles Show and Sale will be at a new location this year: the Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway. Decoy carvers, collectors, wildlife and conservation enthusiasts, art lovers and families will converge there on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The show is routinely described as “the best old decoy show in the country.” This one-day event offers family fun, appraisals, food, raffles and a silent auction. There will be exhibitors showing everything from decoys, shorebirds and song birds to wildlife artwork and photography. Admission is $5. Children are free. Admission for members of Ducks Unlimited, Tuckerton Seaport or anyone signing up for NJDCA membership at the show will include the chance of winning a door prize.

Again this year, NJDCA and Ducks Unlimited are teaming up to offer chances to win decoys, hunting items and other surprises through bucket raffle and silent auction events held the day of the show. Visitors to the show can also meet the association’s annual selection for “Carver of the Year,” Darin Midgette of Williamstown. A decoy by Midgette will also be raffled off.

The decoy association is a group of over 200 collectors and carvers formed nearly 50 years ago. They meet monthly (except December) on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Manahawkin Elks lodge.  —P.J.
