Surf City — An investigation was continuing the week after Memorial Day following a weekend break-in at Little Bite of Italy in Surf City.

Police said the building at 1419 Long Beach Blvd. was accessed by forced entry to a locked rear door along an alleyway.

Surf City Police Department Officers William Robinson and John Boyne went to the scene at 7:28 a.m. on Sunday, May 26 after they were informed by the restaurant owners that someone had broken in.

The time frame of the incident is placed between the late hours of May 25 or the early-morning hours of May 26, police said.

Cash was taken from the establishment, which contains a deli and fine dining restaurant, according to police reports, which did not specify an amount.

The Ocean County Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) unit was also called in by SCPD and processed the scene. No other details were available as the investigation continued.  —M.S.
