Lighthouse International Film Festival Volunteer Meet and Greet Set for May 19

By RICK MELLERUP | May 13, 2019

Surf City — The 2019 Lighthouse International Film Festival won’t take place until Thursday, June 6 through Sunday, June 9. But that’s going to be here in a blink of an eye for the folks organizing the internationally recognized festival, named in 2018 as one of “The 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” by MovieMaker Magazine. Three weeks will likely seem like three days to them, and it is easy to imagine them shouting “Help!”

If you’d like to lend a hand by becoming a LIFF volunteer or you are a veteran volunteer who wants to re-up, your chance will come this Sunday, May 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. That’s when there will be a volunteer meet and greet at the Surf City Firehouse, 713 North Long Beach Blvd. in Surf City.

At 1 p.m. you’ll have the opportunity to mingle with fellow volunteers and meet the LIFF staff. That’s also when you’ll sign a waiver and pick up your T-shirt. At 1:30 you’ll be informed of volunteer opportunities and hear the latest festival news and updates. Finally, at around 2, you’ll pose for the volunteer group photo (please wear dark blue jeans for the photo group shoot).

If you can’t make the meet and greet but would like to volunteer, then email Linda at and include your first and last name, your cell phone number and email address. R.M.
