Manahawkin — The Learning Experience, one of the country’s fastest growing academies of early education for children 6 weeks to 6 years old, announced that its center in Manahawkin was one of 27 of its New Jersey facilities to receive its “Center of Excellence” Award. The awards were announced at the Learning Experience's annual convention, held recently in Austin, Texas.

Courtney McAlister, publicity coordinator for the company, said the recognition is bestowed on the top 10 percent of The Learning Experience centers nationwide that have scored 95 percent or higher on annual evaluations.

“Each year, The Learning Experience centers are evaluated by the preschool’s Board of Directors on customer service, student retention, curriculum delivery, The Learning Experience branding, and overall performance,” she said. “Based on these criteria, the centers in New Jersey were among the top of 220 centers nationwide and chosen to receive the ‘Center of Excellence Award.’”

“These outstanding centers in New Jersey have consistently proven their dedication to impacting the lives of children, and we are happy to honor them with our annual Center of Excellence Award,” said Richard Weissman, chairman, president, and CEO of The Learning Experience. “Their drive for excellence can be easily traced back to the loyal owners and staff who enthusiastically challenge themselves each year to remain top performers and educators.”

In addition to the excellence award, the Learning Experience in Manahawkin was given a Penny Polite Advocacy Award. McAlisterr said the award specifically recognizes centers that have exceeded the operating standards and demonstrate exemplary leadership that registers a significant impact on early education.

“It means that we represent the company well,” said Colleen Leiter, who with her twin sister Shaleen Conklin opened the Manahawkin facility in 2010. “We’ve won the Center for Excellence award several times, but it’s a special honor to receive this recognition for the first time.”  —E.E.
