LBT Commended

Jun 26, 2019

To Mayor Mancini, Commissioner Bayard and Commissioner Lattanzi:

On behalf of Alliance for a Living Ocean and our members, I’d like to thank and commend you for your plan to purchase the 22 acres of undeveloped land in the Holgate section of Long Beach Township.

Since Superstorm Sandy deposited sand into the wetlands area, our group has worked to protect the vital habitat situated there. This sensitive area acts not only as a home to threatened species of birds and turtles, but also as an important flood buffer for the residents of Long Beach Township. Beyond that, the purchase and preservation of this land sets an excellent precedent for protecting our natural resources from overdevelopment.

Thank you as well to the residents of Long Beach Township for supporting the open space tax, which makes this all possible.

We look forward to future environmental successes in cooperation with Long Beach Township, and hope we can host a beach cleanup of the newly preserved area soon.

Kyle Gronostajski, executive director

Alliance for a Living Ocean
