LBI Fishing Club Hosts 73rd Annual World Series of Fishing Tournament

Registration Open Through Morning of Sept. 28 Event

Harvey Cedars — Anglers take note: Registration is still open for the 73rd Annual Long Beach Island Fishing Club’s World Series of Fishing Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 28. Individuals as well as teams can enter the surf fishing contest, the headquarters of which is the clubhouse at 6 East Cape May Ave. in Harvey Cedars.

Entrance fee is $20 per individual or $100 per team. A registration form is available on the Association of Surf Angling Clubs website, at asaconline.org, and can be filled out and mailed – with checks payable to LBIFC – to the following address: Frank D’Ambrosio, 1 Fairhill Ct., Marlton, N.J. 08053.

Participants can also register on site in the club meeting room from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. the morning of the event. Coffee and doughnuts will be served during registration, free of charge.

Fishing takes place from 7 to 9:30 a.m. and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

As tournament chairman, D’Ambrosio noted in regard to beach buggies, “We plan to use North Beach, Surf City, Harvey Cedars, Ship Bottom and Loveladies beaches again this year. Beach buggy fees will be waived for the tournament. Actual beach access will be finalized closer to the tournament date.

“It’s a fantastic day filled with camaraderie and competition,” he added.

D’Ambrosio also encouraged competing fishermen to practice catch and release.

A free hot lunch will be served at the club after the conclusion of fishing, followed by an awards ceremony and door numerous prizes. Six meal tickets per team, and one per individual, will be included in the registration packet.
