Loveladies — A festive Holiday Market Exhibit at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences starts Nov. 16 and runs through Dec. 15. Two special events are part of the show – a preview party on Nov. 16 benefits Coastal Volunteers in Medicine; then Small Business Saturday goes artful on Nov. 30 with food trucks and fire pits.

Showcased for the month will be unique handmade artwork from more than 50 artists and vendors. It is all for purchase at affordable prices, for those who are looking for very special artisan gifts during the holiday season.

A marketplace-style environment describes the show in the main building, located in Loveladies at 120 Long Beach Blvd.

Proceeds from the sale of works benefit the educational programs at the nonprofit Foundation.

“Hundreds of people are expected come to shop local at the LBIF! Join the fun,” the organizers invite.

One special night at the exhibit is the Preview Cocktail Party on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., with wine, beer and light appetizers. This night is a fundraising party, and ticket sales benefit the nonprofit Coastal Volunteers in Medicine, area doctors and nurse practitioners who donate their time to provide quality medical assistance to those who are uninsured.

Tickets are $50 before Nov. 16 and $60 the day of the event.

Attendees on Nov. 16 will get the chance to learn how CVIM is helping the medically underserved uninsured, which includes some of our neighbors who fell on hard times through loss of a job.

Dr. Kimberly Hogan, medical director for CVIM, will speak at the event. Hogan began volunteering as medical director at Coastal Volunteers in 2016. She is a family physician who has been practicing in Manahawkin for the past 10 years. Hogan graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, has a master’s degree in medical biochemistry from Hahnemann University and a bachelor of science in biology from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

In addition, on Small Business Saturday, a one-day event on Nov. 30, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., LBIF will have food trucks, fire pits and a holiday fest vibe outside the show.  —M.S.
