Harvey Cedars Police Start Coat Drive

Oct 02, 2019

Throughout October, the Harvey Cedars Police Foundation will collect coats and warm clothing for the underprivileged.

Police Chief Robert Burnaford said donated items can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and until 1 p.m. on Saturdays at police headquarters located in borough hall. Donations will go to homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters and others in need.

“We hope to make this a yearly event to help give to those in need,” said Burnaford. “It is our way of giving back to the community.”

The foundation was formed early last year to support local charitable causes.

“In our first project last spring, we collected 2,000 books for children and donated them to the local library and school district,” he said. “That was very successful and we hope to collect a good amount for people in need in time for the cold winter months.”
