Manahawkin — The seventh annual Frank V. Panzone Jr. Memorial Cruisin’ for a Cure motorcycle and classic car event will roll this Sunday, May 5, with a new route, to benefit the same great cause, David’s Dream and Believe Cancer Foundation. Barlow Buick GMC is the presenting sponsor, but dozens of local businesses and organizations contribute to the annual event’s overwhelming success.

Registration will take place from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Beach Haven Moose Lodge on Route 72 in Manahawkin. Kickstands up at 11, and off they go. A long joy ride through the pines ends back at Joe Pop’s in Ship Bottom for the after-party, which includes a gift auction and a hot and cold buffet from Panzone’s, Lefty’s Tavern, Sunny Rae’s Kitchen, Joe Pop’s and The Woo Hoo. Live Music will be provided by Ryan Zimmerman, and kids can enjoy a gaming trailer and Sprinkles the Clown.

According to organizers, the Cruisin’ for a Cure event was renamed in 2013 to honor Frank V. Panzone Jr., a man who was extremely giving to his community throughout his life, even as he battled cancer. “His spirit, determination and courage in the face of indomitable odds are only a few of the reasons we are so proud to celebrate his memory with one of his favorite pastimes – hitting the open road.”

Registered riders receive a commemorative pin and access to the Pop’s after-party from noon to 4 p.m. The party is also open to the public. All proceeds from ticket sales and auctions benefit David’s Dream and Believe. Registration forms are available at davidsdreamandbelieve.org. Visit the event page on Facebook to purchase tickets in advance through bit.ly. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for kids ages 6 to 16. Kids 5 and younger get in free.  —V.F.
