Girl Scouts Host Free ‘Explore Our Shore’ Event May 19

Stafford Township — Join Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Troop 395 and nonprofit environmental organizations and businesses at “Explore Our Shore,” a free, fun and educational event focused on the local ecosystem. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Sunday, May 19, at St. Mary’s Parish Center in Manahawkin.

“Get up close and personal with some local critters and participate in some hands-on kid-friendly projects,” organizers encourages. “Meet people from local organizations working hard to keep ... Ocean County alive and thriving.

“Learn about our local ecosystem from the ocean to the bay and how we can make a difference in the world around us.”

In addition to free refreshments, face painting, glitter tattoos, Lily the Eco-Friendly Mermaid and the Monarch Butterfly Lady, the following organizations and business will have representatives in attendance: Alliance for a Living Ocean, Save Barnegat Bay, ReClam the Bay, the Garden Club of Long Beach Island, Clean Ocean Action, Jenkinson’s Aquarium, Terrapin Nesting Project – High Bar Harbor Hatchery, Marine Mammal Stranding Center, Forty North Oyster Farms, Sea Turtle Recovery, Recycling Center of Ocean County Master Composters, The Yoga Hive, Happy Habits, Krissy Schon from Young Living Essential Oils and Layla Marie Princess Playtime.  —J.K.-H.
