Get Your Spine Tingled at Haunted Hayride at the Lake

Sep 27, 2019

Waretown — The 21st annual haunted hayride in Waretown takes place on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Waretown Lake, located at 182 Wells Mills Rd. (Route 532). The cost for the 20-minute tractor-pulled hayride around the lake is $10 for adults, $8 for children younger than 12. There is also an express ghost pass at $25 per person, which includes a haunted pavilion.

As the ride meanders around the lake, participants will be treated to numerous skits, for which volunteers are needed. Jean Broadbent, recreation director for Waretown and Barnegat Township, said the skits can be scenes featuring ghosts, clowns, cemeteries – anything that will grab the attention of the riders.

“We’re looking to have 15 to 20 skits,” said Broadbent. “Eight monetary prizes will be awarded for the skits, with the top prize being $500.”

She said vendors and food trucks will be on site. Business sponsorships are also available.

Proceeds benefit the Waretown Founder’s Day and Volunteer Fire Company.

For information, call Broadbent at 609-548-6319 or the Waretown Recreation Department at 609-693-5407. —E.E.
