The Garden Club of Long Beach Island has a new children’s program of flower study and design at the Long Beach Island Branch of the Ocean County Library in Surf City. Each month, children from local LBI schools are invited to sign up and work with garden club members in creating their own floral arrangements.

Children also learn the names of flowers and vegetation and principals of good design.

The next session is Wednesday, March 13 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the library. The theme is “Lucky Leapin’ Leprachauns” for St. Patrick’s Day.

The program is free but requires registration. Parents can register by calling 609-494-2480, or online at or in person.  —P.J.
