Garden Club Holiday Tour of Homes Is Dec. 12

Photo by: Jeannette Michelson Nicely Nautical: The Garden Club of Long Beach Island goes crazy for Christmas and the holidays by decorating five gorgeous homes on the Island donated by their generous owners for the day. The money raised is used towards scholarships and Club educational projects.

Where on our beautiful Island can you find and see a bar made from an original wooden Chris Craft boat? Or a fossilized coral limestone kitchen floor from the Florida Keys? Or azure blue marble kitchen counters? Or a re-purposed chicken coop on a tin-lined fireplace? Or a dining table made from one slab of a Thai camcha tree?

And that’s just a taste of what you’ll see during the Garden Club of Long Beach Island’s 54th annual Holiday Tour of Homes planned for Thursday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Club members will be decorating five homes for the holidays this year: two located in Loveladies, one in Brant Beach and two in Beach Haven. The members do a spectacular job filling the homes with fresh flowers and whimsical decorations.

New this year: the site for the Holiday Boutique and the luncheon is the newly opened Hotel LBI located on the Causeway in Ship Bottom. The Holiday Boutique offers homemade cookies, unique Christmas geegaws, wreaths and centerpieces made by garden club members.

Cost is just $55, and tickets go fast. Contact Diane Macrides at 973-214-2520, and check the LBI Garden Club Facebook page.  —P.J.
