Friends Needed

Apr 17, 2019

To the Editor:

Who will care for them – the lost, the lonely, the hungry, the hurt?

The Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter in Manahawkin takes in all county dogs and cats in need of homes and shelter. If adoptable they are tested, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and put up for adoption for a very reasonable fee..

What do the Friends of the Southern Ocean County Shelter do? We respond to special needs of pets entering the shelter. Where there is a need we provide supplemental medical care: the stray dog with a broken leg, the abandoned cat in need of dental work. We exercise the shelter dogs, comfort the homeless cats, rescue frightened litters of kittens, help place pets in homes and more.

Everyone is invited to the Friends of the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter annual luncheon meeting Saturday, April 27 to learn more about our group. The meeting will be at Bay Avenue Community Center, 775 East Bay Ave., Manahawkin.  Lunch will start at noon.

You will go home knowing how you can make a difference in a homeless pet’s life. You will also go home with a little thank-you gift for coming to the meeting. (You won’t need to feed it.)

Please come. We need you.
