Beach Haven, NJ — The Beach Haven Volunteer Co. is mourning the death of Brooke Amsterdam-Hacker, who served with the company from 2010 to 2014. Hacker died Dec. 11 at age 29 from necrosis of the pancreas, according to the company’s Facebook page.

“Brooke was never afraid to get her hands dirty, was always the first to help out when she was needed, and was always someone you could rely on,” the company wrote. “She was truly a spark of light on the darkest day and will be missed by all of us.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support her family.

“She made an impact with so many of our lives with her selflessness,” wrote fund organizer Angelina Vaughan-Whited. “Heaven just gained a beautiful angel We’re all still so dumbfounded and grieving. Please pray for all of us in this time as we have all lost a major part of us.”

The company called Amsterdam-Hacker “an amazing young woman who was taken from this world too soon.”

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Co., 100 South Bay Ave., Beach Haven, N.J. 08008, or online at beachhavenfire.com. E.E.
