Spray Beach — The Long Beach Island Health Department has announced 20 participants passed the exam for the most recent National Registry of Food Safety Professionals Certified Food Protection Manager Course. Food service personnel from area restaurants participated in a two-day class offered by the health department on food safety principles.

Subjects included foodborne illness; biological, physical, and chemical food hazards; personal hygiene; time and temperature control; pest management; and sanitation.

For full-service restaurants, New Jersey’s Regulations of Retail Food Establishments require at least one employee on duty to be certified in food safety principles. Restaurants take the course on a rotating basis.

The following establishments will receive certificates: Okie’s Butcher Shop; Artisans Café; Pinky Shrimp’s Seafood Market; The Gateway; Harvey Cedars Bible Conference; Crust and Crumb Bakery; Inlet Deli; Maristella’s Luncheonette; Mustache Bill’s Diner; Subbogies; Skipper Dipper; Howard’s Seafood Restaurant; Woody’s Too; and Panzone’s Pizza & Pasta.  —M.S.
