Expert on Video Game Design Speaks at LBI Library Oct. 21

Oct 14, 2019

Do you have an interest in designing video games? Josh Bycer, author of 20 Essential Games to Study and owner of Game-Wisdom, will discuss  the skills needed and challenges of designing video games on Monday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at the Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library in Surf City.

For more than seven years, Bycer has been researching and contributing to the field of game design. These contributions range from Q&A for professional game productions to writing articles for such sites as Gamasutra and Quarter To Three.

“I have spent my adult life examining the art and craft of game design, to demystify a field that even professionals within it still have trouble fully grasping,” the author said. “Through my site Game-Wisdom, I have literally interviewed developers from all around the world from those just starting out, to established veterans like Jon Shafer, Chris Park, Zach Barth and more. I have lost count of the number of developers I’ve spoken to who appreciate being able to talk to someone who speaks and understands the language of game design.”

He said Game-Wisdom strives to assist in improving the gaming industry and to provide an easy-to-understand explanation on the topic of game design.
