Drugs Seized from Car in Barnegat Township

Barnegat — A joint investigation into narcotics distribution in Barnegat Township resulted in the arrest of a resident on narcotics distribution charges last week.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said the Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force and the Barnegat Township Police Department Crime Reduction Unit obtained a search warrant for a vehicle being utilized by Quamel Peteete, 28, which was executed on Dec. 2. As a result, detectives seized approximately 22 grams of cocaine, a quantity of Suboxone tablets, and a small quantity of marijuana. Peteete was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with possession of cocaine in an amount greater than one-half ounce with intent to distribute, possession of Suboxone and posesssion of marijuana. Peteete is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.  —E.E.
