Caring, Committed

Oct 30, 2019

To Harvey Cedars residents:

Paul Rice, whom I’ve known since we were children coming to Harvey Cedars in the summers with our families, is running for commissioner, and he needs your vote in November. His family and mine have been coming to Harvey Cedars since 1967, and Paul has been a year-round resident since 1988. As a resident of Harvey Cedars and knowing Paul for decades, I know Paul is the right person to help lead our community as commissioner.

Paul has supported the borough for many decades in various ways. He is a successful small-business owner since 1992 and a long-standing, active member of our volunteer fire company. Paul also is a member of the town’s land use board and board of adjustments for more than 15 years.

Many of you know Paul as the owner of the Harvey Cedars Marina for the past 25 years. At the High Point Volunteer Fire Co.,he contributes as the financial secretary and chief engineer. It’s fair to say Paul goes out of his way to be involved and attend every special event and fundraiser for the fire company. He is quick to respond to emergencies when the call comes in for assistance from his neighbors.

You will find it no surprise that through hard work and dedication Paul achieved his career goal and dream and is a captain for United Airlines, where he is responsible for the safe passage of his passengers and crew.

When I asked Paul why he was interested in taking on another important role in Harvey Cedars as commissioner, his response was simple: He wants to preserve the rare small-town feel of Harvey Cedars that is so important to the families who live here and those who visit each summer.

Paul values that sense of community which we all treasure as residents of our shore town. As a businessman and taxpayer himself, he cares about keeping Harvey Cedars affordable and safe. He genuinely cares about his neighbors and neighborhood. I know Paul will keep Harvey Cedars the well-managed small town where we all choose to reside, work or find respite from our hectic lives. I can think of no one more dedicated and qualified and with a greater sense of civic duty to take on the role of commissioner.

I will vote for Paul Rice for commissioner in Harvey Cedars and hope you will join me Nov. 5.

Hope Nelson
