Can You ID This Marina Scene?

In the mid-1960s, Frank Boni took up painting, and as the owner of a seasonal home in Harvey Cedars, shore scenes were among his favorite subjects.

At age 92, Boni still paints from his home in Ambler, Pa. But the Harvey Cedars residence on Lange Avenue is mostly used now by his children and other relatives. Recently, the family embarked on a project to categorize and compile his works.

“There are probably about 300,” said his daughter Cindy Voorhies. “My father would take photos and then paint from them, using mostly acrylics.”

Voorhies said she and her sister, Jennifer Berdine, have identified the sites and scenes of his paintings, but one particular location eludes their memory. Voorhies said they are stumped by what looks like a marina scene which they believe is in Brant Beach.

“The painting was probably done in the mid-’70s,” she said. “My dad liked to go boating so he had rented slips for the summer in Brant Beach at that time. But we’re not really sure where this place is.”

Voorhies said her father worked as a mechanical engineer and draftsman.

“When I was a teenager, he got interested in painting,” she said. “While he liked panting shore scenes, he had a special love for churches. He must have painted at least 50 of them.”

Voohies said anyone who might be able to identify the location in the painting can email her at cvoorhies@att.net.  —E.E.
