Build a Team of Bird Watchers to Compete in the World Series of Birding

Feb 27, 2019

Registration is now open for the 36th annual New Jersey Audubon’s World Series of Birding, to take place on Saturday, May 11. The World Series of Birding is the country’s largest and most prestigious birding competition and provides participants and sponsors with a fun and interactive way to raise money for critically needed conservation priorities.

From midnight to midnight on May 11, birders will be swarming over the highways and byways of New Jersey looking and listening for as many bird species as possible. Teams use the WSB phone app to submit their totals.

The Finish Line festivities will take place in the Grand Ballroom at the Grand Hotel in Cape May at 6 p.m. and last until midnight. While the WSB phone app allows teams to submit their final totals “virtually,” the hope is that teams will visit the Grand Hotel and get a sneak peek at what the final results may be. There will be food and soft drinks, and of course, pictures taken of teams.

Teams can compete in the Bird Conservation Challenge or take a more casual approach by being a New Jersey Audubon Ambassador. What makes NJ Audubon’s World Series of Birding so awesome is the money raised and the awareness for conservation causes. Read the updated Rules and Information on the website, worldseriesofbirding.com. Once you have built your team page, you can start raising money for bird conservation. —P.J.
