Beach Haven Students Get Holiday Treat

Beach Haven, NJ — Students at the Beach Haven Elementary School got a surprise holiday sendoff on the last day of school before Christmas vacation. Christopher Meyrick, school superintendent/principal, said the fun began at 9 a.m. with what children were told was a fire drill. He said because it was cold outside, he told the students that maybe they could warm up for a few minutes inside the arcade at Fantasy Island Amusement Park, located across Bay Avenue from the school.

When the children got there, they received a big surprise – two hours of free game time courtesy of Brian Wainright, Fantasy Island owner.

“Also, we were all treated to bagels and doughnuts,” said Meyrick. “This was a complete community effort. The volunteer fire company brought Santa along, and police officers helped the kids cross the street. It was a great way to end this part of the school year.” —E.E.
