Beach Haven CAP Selling Donor Bricks

Apr 17, 2019

In 2000, a group was formed to continue the 25-year-old tradition of the Beach Haven Bicentennial Park Association’s free “Concerts in the Park.” A few citizens founded the nonprofit Beach Haven Community Arts Program to “develop policies, activities and actions that enhance the overall desirability and beauty of Beach Haven, and to advance year-round cultural activities and events within the Borough.”

During the past 19 years, CAP has not only arranged 11 to 15 free “Concerts on the Green” each summer, but has also organized and presented annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day community programs, as well as a holiday tree-lighting celebration. Additionally, CAP has helped with the beautification of Veterans Memorial Park, adding comfortable benches and brick walkways. CAP sponsors an annual scholarship for a student at Southern Regional High School, who plans to pursue a career in the arts. Donations for the purchase of musical instruments have assisted students at the Beach Haven Elementary School.

To help support these programs, CAP has begun a sale of donor bricks at $100 each. The bricks will be installed in walkways within the park during the fall.

“We’re very excited to be starting this up again,” said Jill Denker, project coordinator. “It was very successful when we did it in the past.”

Prospective donors can place their orders by contacting Denker at Beachhavencap1045@gmail.com.

Rob Meyer, CAP program coordinator, said the proceeds will be used to support the free ccncerts and other activities.

“We offer a variety of music styles in our concerts,” he said. “We’ve had rock, country, jazz, reggae, classical, just to name a few.”

Meyer added, “The members of the Beach Haven Community Arts Program would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the residents, visitors and businesses that have supported our activities. With concert sponsorship by local businesses, individuals and nonprofit groups, with ads in our weekly programs, with contributions from the public at our concerts and for Memorial Bricks, and with the hard work of volunteers and the Borough Public Works employees, the Beach Haven Community Arts Program has thrived. Again we extend thanks for helping us prove that if citizens of a community work together, they can accomplish a great deal.” E.E.
