Bass River Elementary School students in grades K-3 released monarch butterflies into the wild on Sept. 23. The students had learned about the life cycle of the monarch and about their journey south. They were able to observe the monarchs at all stages and then released several that were found locally as caterpillars. Students also created headbands and sang a song before 25 butterflies were released. They will continue to work on the school gardens and plant additional milkweed.
