Barnegat Schools Introduce Mobile App

Barnegat — The Barnegat School District has launched a mobile app enabling parents and students to easily access information. District Superintendent Brian Latwis said the app, introduced last week, can be downloaded on a smartphone through Android or Apple.

“During the first day, we had between 200 and 300 sign up on Android,” he said.

Latwis said the move was the result of numerous complaints that the district website (barnegatschools.com) was not user-friendly.

“People thought some parts were hard to navigate, so as long as we were upgrading our website, we thought we could add the mobile app,” he said. “It seems like everybody these days has smartphones, so it made sense to keep up with the technology.”

He said that through the app, parents and students could get information on everything from testing schedules to sports events.

“We’re looking to continually update the app to add more content,” said Latwis. “We’re just in the beginning stages, so it has tremendous potential for growth.” —E.E.
