Barnegat Announces Changes at Intersection

By Eric Englund | Oct 09, 2019

Barnegat — People driving on West Bay Avenue in Barnegat Township will notice changes when they approach the Nautilus Avenue intersection.

Township Committeeman Albert Bille said the pattern has changed for eastbound drivers on West Bay Avenue.

“The right-turn lane onto Nautilus Drive is now a combination lane with a right-turn option,” he said. “Previously it was a right-turn-only lane.”

In addition, he said the right turn from Nautilus Drive onto West Bay Avenue has become a “no turn on red.”

Bille said the changes were a byproduct of the county resurfacing West Bay from Fourth Street west to Mirage Boulevard.

“It surprised us a little, but it’s a county road so they can do what they want with it,” he said. “At least I’m glad they made it no turn on red, or it would have been a bad situation.”

Bille said that beginning Wednesday, Oct. 10, the county will begin resurfacing from Fourth Street east to Sandpiper Lane. The work will be done in the overnight hours.  —E.E.
