Atlantic City — Tourism leaders from all over the state will hear about Downtown Tuckerton, Little Egg Harbor, Beach Haven and other local towns in the “Downtown Driven” program at the 2019 NJ League of Municipalities Conference at the Atlantic City Convention Center Nov. 21.

Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Lori Pepenella will be there, speaking on a tourism panel session called “Building a Welcoming Brand Through Tourism Marketing.”

Little Egg Harbor Mayor Barbara Jo Crea will preside over the session. Other participants on the conference’s tourism panel include Judith Ross, vice president of Meadowlands Regional Chamber and Meadowlands LIVE CVB; John Siciliano, executive director of the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement & Development Authority; Peggy Kelly, director of tourism marketing for Hudson County; and Joseph Simonetta, executive director of New Jersey Tourism Industry Association.

Local economic development through tourism is a focus.

The dialogue will share how municipalities have been successfully working with Destination Marketing Organizations to build community branding. They’ll talk about stronger messaging to attract visitors as well as potential investors.

Pepenella said each speaker will present a facet of how to “Build a Welcoming Brand Through Tourism Marketing,” from foundation to managing expectations.

“New Jersey Tourism Industry Association and its member Destination Marketing Organizations will share success stories on how the professional and consistent coordination of programming, marketing campaigns and metrics help attract new investors, revitalization and visitors to the state of New Jersey,” Pepenella said

Pepenella will discuss the success of the chamber’s Downtown Driven initiatives, which includes Beach Haven, Ship Bottom, Tuckerton, Little Egg Harbor, Stafford Township and Barnegat.

The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce recently received its global reaccreditation as a Destination Marketing Organization.  —M.S.
