Barnegat PBA 296 is hosting a fundraiser for the family of Alex Hoffman.

Hoffman, who was a patrol officer for 17 years, died suddenly Oct. 2 while he was off duty. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Ptl. Tim Bradshaw said the event is known as “Hoofy’s Fall Fest.”

“Hoofy was his nickname,” said Bradshaw. “We’re really hoping that the community will come out and support this.”

Bradshaw said admission is $10 per person, and guests can buy food and drinks from several food trucks and beer vendors.

“We’ll also have fire pits, live music and children’s activities,” he said. “We’re accepting any donations that people might want to give while they’re attending the benefit.”

Bradshaw said checks can be sent to the Barnegat PBA, at P.O. Box 100, Barnegat, N.J. 08005.
“People can also drop checks off at police headquarter during the day,” he said.

In addition, a fund drive has been launched by Troopers United Foundation (troopersunited.org). TUF was formed in 2016 by dedicated New Jersey state troopers to be of assistance to any and all troopers, police officers, first responders and their families in the event of tragedy or illness.
